The fifth-largest meat-consuming nation?
Did you know that if American pets formed their own sovereign nation, they’d be the fifth-largest meat-consuming country on the planet? Bloomberg reports this week on one company’s desire to change that.
For both people and pets, there’s of course a whole cadre of start-ups seeking to create real meat grown from animal cells rather than slaughter. One of them, Finless Foods, is basically shooting fish in, well, more like they’re growing fish cells in a barrel, as reported by Food Safety News this week.
