Who’s right? Merriam-Webster or Missouri lawmakers?

Should it be illegal to call a meaty, animal-free burger “plant-based meat”? Missouri lawmakers think so. But the ACLU, Good Food Institute, and other great co-plaintiffs are fighting back with a lawsuit filed this week defending plant-based meat (yes, meat) companies’ rights.

On the clean meat side, the “steaks” are high, with federal agencies vying for turf in the battle over who’ll regulate these companies, as I write about this week.

The stakes for animals are also sky-high in California, where voters will soon decide whether they want to enact the strongest farm animal protection law on the planet. Now This did a great video on the topic this week.
